About
Emily’s affinity with art began at a young age and has continued to manifest throughout her life, despite not always being a constant presence. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a Master of Public Health from Florida State University, she embarked on a career in public health in which she has primarily served as an epidemiologist. After a trip to Paris, visiting the Louvre piqued her interest in classical realism, and she began having a desire to practice art more seriously in her time outside of work. The importance of beauty in one’s surroundings and art’s transcendental ability began to be at the forefront of her mind, and she realized the pursuit of art in her free time would be invaluable.
Upon her return, she began attending the REAL Academy of Art Colorado, an academy dedicated to preserving the techniques of Renaissance masters of realism and certified by the esteemed Art Renewal Center. Emily is drawn to classical techniques because the methodological approach appeals to her scientific side and has allowed her to develop her technical skills.
